Roby’s High Calling

This is the story of a boy who grew up during the years of the Great Depression and World War II.  The fifth son and eights child in a non-Christian home, he struggled to find peace with God, became a committed Christian and sought to life his life for Christ in his role as a student, a football player, a suitor, a pilot, and a war hero.  God chose to call him into full-time ministry while he was serving with the Air Force.  The girl he married became a devoted wife, mother, and pastor’s wife.  The is the story of a boy who rose from the depths of despair, confusion, and lack of faith, to be a committed Christian husband, father, and pastor.

 

About the Author:

Charles Wayman Brashear was born in 1928 in Brownwood, Texas.  He finished high school there and served in the US Air Force for thirteen years.  He married Dorothy Jean Lewallen in 1949.  Three children were born to them while still in the air force.  He finished Midwestern University with a BA degree, was called by the Lord into full-time ministry, earned his DB and MDiv at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and served as pastor-missionary for forty-three years.  Now retired, he lives in Temple, Texas.  He became a widower in 2012, after sixty-two years of marriage.  This is his second novel, which is a sequel to the first, Roby and the Two-Minute Miracle.
