Desoto Central’s Allan Lamar Went Big Before he Went Home

This week’s high school football slate got off to a monumental start in North 6A as Desoto Central and Olive Branch played arguably one of the best if not the best games of the year in Mississippi. The Conquistadors of Olive Branch edged out the Jaguars of Desoto Central 87-86 in a three – overtime game, throwing away defense and both teams putting on an offensive display of epic proportions.

Desoto Central senior running back Alan Lamar was the biggest star of the night as he continues to show why he’s one of the best players in the state – evident of his invite this week to the Mississippi – Alabama All-star game.

For the year, Lamar has now rushed the football 201 times for 1,881 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Desoto Central is now 5-3, 1-2 on the season and Olive Branch, who is in a resurgence of sorts under first year head football coach Steve Buckley is now 4-3,2-1 on the 2015 campaign.

While South Panola is the bell cow in Region one-6A, this region is as good as it’s ever been with Columbus, Panola, Olive Branch, Tupelo, Hernando and Desoto Central all vying for a playoff spot. These next few weeks should prove to be some exciting football in North Mississippi and if Lamar has anything to do with it, he’s just getting started.
