MHSAA releases new classifications, regions for Class 1A-7A, will include all sports

The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced this Tuesday a reclassification of Regions 1A-7A, which will go into effect starting August 2025.  This will affect all sports including football, basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball.

Class 7A

Who joined: West Harrison.

Region 1: DeSoto Central, Hernando, Horn Lake, Lewisburg, Southaven, Tupelo.

Region 2: Clinton, Germantown, Madison Central, Murrah, Oxford, Starkville.

Region 3: Brandon, Meridian, Northwest Rankin, Oak Grove, Pearl, Petal.

Region 4: Biloxi, D’Iberville, Gulfport, Harrison Central, Ocean Springs, St. Martin, West Harrison.

Class 6A

Who joined: Canton, Gautier, Greenville.

Region 1: Center Hill, Grenada, Lake Cormorant, Olive Branch, Saltillo, South Panola.

Region 2: Callaway, Canton, Greenville, Neshoba Central, Ridgeland, Warren Central.

Region 3: Forest Hill, George County, Hattiesburg, Jim Hill, Terry, West Jones.

Region 4: Gautier, Hancock, Long Beach, Pascagoula, Pearl River Central, Picayune.

Class 5A

Who joined: Caledonia, Columbus, Lanier, Northeast Jones, Purvis, Sumrall, Vicksburg.

Region 1: Caledonia, Columbus, Lafayette, New Hope, Pontotoc, West Point.

Region 2: Cleveland Central, Florence, Holmes County Central, Lanier, Provine, Vicksburg.
