Playoff Scenarios for Class 2 – 4A – MSHAA

Hard to believe we are talking playoffs already – playoffs. Heck, the MAIS starts their playoffs this week.

Here are the scenarios heading into the final week of the regular season for MHSAA Class 4A, 3A and 2A.

CLASS 4A

Region 1-4A: The winner of the Amory-Corinth game Friday will be the No. 1 seed. Corinth cannot be worse than the No. 2 seed. Pontotoc can be no better than the No. 4 seed. If Itawamba AHS beats Tishomingo County and Amory loses to Corinth and Shannon beats Pontotoc then the Indians are the No. 2 seed. If Amory loses to and Pontotoc beats Shannon then Amory is the No. 2 seed, IAHS is No. 3 seed.

Region 2-4A: If Senatobia defeats Rosa Fort Friday and Lafayette defeats Byhalia then Senatobia would be the No. 1 seed, Lafayette No. 2 seed and Rosa Fort the No. 3 seed. If Rosa Fort defeats Senatobia by 11 points or less then Lafayette would be No. 1 seed, Rosa Fort the No. 2 seed and Senatobia the No. 3 seed. If Rosa Fort defeats Senatobia by 12 points or more then Rosa Fort would be the No. 1 seed, Lafayette No. 2 seed and Senatobia the No. 3 seed. The winner of the New Albany-Ripley game Friday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 3-4A: Greenwood can clinch the No. 1 seed on Friday with a win over Raymond.  If Gentry beats Cleveland then Gentry will be the No. 2 seed, Raymond the No. 3 seed and Cleveland will be the No. 4 seed. If Raymond beats Greenwood by 10 points or more and Cleveland beats Gentry by 9 points or more then Raymond would the No. 1 seed, Greenwood the No. 2 seed, Cleveland the No. 3 seed and Gentry the No. 4 seed.

Region 4-4A: Noxubee County has clinched the No. 1 seed. The winner of the Kosiusko-Louisville will be the No. 2 seed and the loser will be the No. 3 seed. Houston has clinched the No. 4 seed.

Region 5-4A: West Lauderdale has clinched the No. 1 seed. If Mendenhall beats Quitman and NE Jones defeats Newton County then Mendenhall will No. 2 seed, NE Jones No. 3 seed and Quitman No. 4 seed. If Quitman beats Mendenhall then NE Jones will be the No. 2 seed, Quitman No. 3 seed and Mendenhall No. 4 seed.

Region 6-4A: This region is set. Lawrence County is the No. 1 seed, McComb No. 2 seed, North Pike No. 3 seed and Florence is the No. 4 seed.

Region 7-4A: If Purvis defeats Forrest Co. AHS on Friday and Columbia beats Poplarville then Purvis will be the No. 1 seed, Columbia the No. 2 seed, Forrest Co. AHS the No. 3 seed and Poplarville will be the No. 4 seed. If Poplarville beats Columbia by 10 points or more then Columbia would still be No. 2 seed, Poplarville will be the No. 3 seed and Forrest Co. AHS will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 8-4A: St. Stanislaus has clinched the No. 1 seed and East Central has clinched the No. 2 seed. If Vancleave beats East Central and Moss Point beats Bay High then Pass Christian is the No. 3 seed and Vancleave is No. 4 seed. If Moss Point beats Bay High then Moss Point is the No. 3 seed and Pass Christian is the No. 4 seed. If Bay High defeats Moss Point on Friday then they would be No. 4 seed.
