Delta Academy is aiming to get to .500 on the season

Lance Johnson started the game off on a blistering pace, with two straight 28 yard runs, as the Delta Academy Raiders (1-1) defeated Marvell (1-1), 50-6 on Friday September 1.

The game began with Delta Academy recovering two straight onside kicks, followed by two straight touchdown runs, by Johnson, who finished with seven carries for 183 yards and three rushing touchdowns, and three tackles on defense.

By the end of the first quarter, Johnson had his three scores and John Michael Prewitt, Delta Academy’s quarterback, added another score to help the Raiders end the first quarter with a 30-0 lead.

“Our team had enough energy and we run a lot in practice, and we just went out there and did our thing,” Johnson, who was awarded Cricket Wireless Play of the Game honors, said after his team’s win.

Prewitt, the quarterback, won the MPACk Mississippi award, given to the player who had the biggest impact. He finished with four rushes for 67 yards, 1-3 passing for 13 yards and also racked up six tackles, a blocked punt and a forced fumble.
