The game started off with a 20-yard touchdown run from Calhoun Academy quarterback Coley Denton as they won 28-8 over Lee Academy to take sole possession of first place in their division. At the end of the first quarter, Calhoun scored again, off a 15-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-0.

In the second quarter it was much of the same as Calhoun scored another touchdown on a 35-yard run from Easton Dishman for one of his two touchdowns of the night.

It was not until the end of the second quarter that Lee Academy scored off a 70-yard touchdown to Jayden Snow to end the first half with Calhoun up 22.8. Dishman started the third on fire as he ran for a 40-yard touchdown as Calhoun poured on the lead to 28-8.

“I think we started out a little slow. My guys have done that in the past. When we caught our grove from the second quarter on, we played the best ball all year long”, said Coach Benny Bryant on his team’s performance.

Coley Denton, quarterback/defensive back, won the IMPACT Mississippi player of the game, given to the player who had the biggest impact. He finished with 2-4 passing for 52 yards, 15 carries for 49 yards and one touchdown, and on defense he had three tackles and one interception.

Easton Dishman, running back/ linebacker, the Cricket Wireless Player of the Game, finished with 20 carries for 232 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 11 tackles on defense.

Calhoun Academy hits the road next week for last game of the regular season, as they travel to Kemper Academy. Lee Academy heads back home to play Delta Academy next Friday night.
